PetaGene reduces the volume of genomic data, cutting down storage expenses and data transfer durations by 60% to 90% while maintaining data integrity. Our goal is to empower researchers to conduct vital analysis on genomic data for the advancement of global health and medicine. Initially just a concept, PetaGene emerged from the innovative thinking of a group of Cambridge University PhDs who sought to revolutionize genomic data storage. The initiative, known as 'Project PetaGene,' involved a collaboration with the Stegle Group at EMBL-EBI to explore methods for compressing substantial amounts of genomic data without compromising its quality.
