Institute Molecular Biology

IMB represents a contemporary, global research institution based in Mainz, Germany. Established as a not-for-profit entity in 2011, it received financial support from the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. The institute's objective is to address fundamental inquiries into the growth, aging, and disease development of organisms through fundamental studies in epigenetics, genome stability, and related domains. IMB presently employs over 200 researchers and is renowned for attracting exceptional students and young scientists from around the globe, with more than half of its PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars originating from overseas. The laboratories maintain an informal environment, with English being the primary working language.
