ARTMS’ advancement originated from a consortium of TRIUMF researchers, including the current Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Paul Schaffer, in 2013 to address anticipated shortages of Technetium-99m following the closure of the Chalk River reactor. After succeeding in producing cyclotron-generated Technetium-99m, ARTMS persisted in fostering innovation through the creation of novel solid targets, efficient procedures, and standard purification protocols. Eventually, ARTMS Inc. was established and has independently operated since 2016.
