The organization was established on the 8th of March 1933 under the name The Phaltan Sugar Works Limited with the goal of operating in the sugar sector. Subsequently, The Phaltan Sugar Works Limited expanded its operations into the textile, chemical, food, and food processing industries. In 1981-82, the sugar plant was divested to local management and the company was rebranded as Apte Amalgamations Ltd. on the 16th of June 1982. The company then initiated several ventures, including a chemical unit for producing Sulphamethoxazole. In 1981, the company acquired Swastik Textile Mills, a processing facility that remained operational until 1986-87.
